Laboratory Coordinator
Job Description

    Job Title: Laboratory Coordinator (Classified Staff, regular, Pay Grade: 23)

    Department: Chemistry

    Hours Per Week: 40

    Benefits Eligible: Yes

    Purpose Of The Position:

To complete a team of staff employees who support the undergraduate Chemistry Laboratory Teaching Program.

    Position Summary:

Primary responsibility will be to monitor chemistry laboratories, distributing chemicals, supplies and equipment. Also will assist in the preparation of solutions, chemical waste handling, and supervision of student workers.

    Minimum Qualifications:

bulletB.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or a related science.
bulletOne year experience working in undergraduate teaching labs.

    Preferred Qualifications:

bulletPrevious experience working in UA Department of Chemistry.
bulletKnowledge of word processor and spreadsheet programs.

 

Laboratory Coordinator, Senior
Job Description

    Job Title: Laboratory Coordinator (Classified Staff, regular, Pay Grade: 33)

    Hours Per Week: 40

    Purpose Of The Position:

The purpose of this position is to complete a team of staff employees who support the undergraduate Chemistry Laboratory Teaching Program.

    Position Summary:

Primary responsibilities include chemical preparations, the changing over of weekly experiments, and equipment maintenance. Also will assist in the supervision of student workers and chemical waste handling. Work schedule includes one night per week in the supervision of laboratories.

    Minimum Qualifications:

bulletB.S. in Chemistry or related science
bulletOne year experience working in support of undergraduate teaching labs
bulletOne year analytical chemical preparation experience
bulletExperience with Infrared Spectrometry and Gas Chromatography
bulletKnowledge of MS Word and MS Excel

    Preferred Qualifications:

bulletPrevious experience working in and undergraduate chemical preproom
bulletKnowledge of laboratory instrumentation
bulletKnowledge of MS Access
