Lead Chloride Solubility, Demo #31
Using "Texas-size" test tubes, you can show what happens when
solutions of lead (II) and chloride are mixed so that the ion product is
greater than Ksp or less than Ksp. You can also
illustrate the effect of adding extra chloride ion to a saturated solution of
lead chloride.
Lime Water-Carbon Dioxide, Demo #33
The addition of carbon dioxide gas to limewater (aqueous calcium hydroxide)
first results in the precipitation of calcium carbonate. Additional
carbon dioxide, however, redissolves the precipitate. The reaction can
be reversed to give the calcium carbonate precipitate once again either by
boiling the solution or bubbling air through it.
