-
Who do I see for initial advising or for transfer orientation?
-
Where can I get chemistry course guides?

-
Who do I see for transfer credit evaluation?
-
When you first come in for transfer orientation, or when you first
declare the CHEM major, Robin Rarick (above) will handle evaluation
and application of transfer work to Chemistry and general education
requirements.
-
Beyond that, the various departments will evaluate MATH, English
composition, second language, etc. You will be provided contact
information and procedures as necessary.
-
Once you enroll for classes, your Student Academic Progress Report
(SAPR) will be adjusted to reflect the applicability of your transfer
work.
-
How do I monitor my degree progress?
-
At the University of Arizona, we use the Student Academic Progress
Report (or SAPR). The SAPR is a report generated via Student Link that
pulls in all transfer work, completed UA courses, and all course
exceptions and applies them to your established degree plan. As long
as your SAPR is up-to-date with all course substitutions and notes,
you should be able to easily follow this document section by section
to see how each requirement is being fulfilled and what is remaining.
See "How to Read
the New SAPR" and be sure to direct questions to Robin Rarick
(above).
-
Remember to see your advisor each term to get help with planning
and making sure you've accounted for all degree requirements by the
time you expect to graduate.
-
How many units from community college may I apply toward my
degree? 64 maximum
-
What is meant by "upper-division" units and how do I meet this
graduation requirement?
-
Upper-division (UD) units are any units that you complete at the
300-level or higher.
-
You need 42 upper-division units to graduate
-
Depending on your catalog year and degree (BA vs. BS), the
chemistry major will provide anywhere from 17-38 upper-division units;
beyond those, it's up to you to build them into your schedule.
Students may complete Tier 2 gen-eds as UD, complete a second major or
minor which will provide additional UD units, or choose electives or
additional courses to fulfill the minimum required UD units.
-
I'm transferring from a four-year college and have a
substantial amount of my degree already completed.
-
Can I complete courses as pass/fail?
-
In order to be eligible for pass/fail, you must be at least a
sophomore (25+ units completed or transferred) and carry at least a
2.0 GPA. Also see
http://catalog.arizona.edu/2007%2D08/policies/grade.htm#passfail
for the actual UA policy.
-
Courses taken under the pass/fail option must be electives only,
and may not be used to fulfill general education, major, minor, or
other specified curriculum requirements. If you mistakenly complete a
curriculum requirement as Pass/Fail, you should expect to retake the
course for a letter grade, so be very careful when deciding to enroll
for a course as P/F.
-
Where do I find information such as drop/add deadlines,
general policies, procedures, the list of undergraduate minors, major
requirements, course descriptions etc?
