The Department of Chemistry is pleased to introduce an International Exchange Program for Chemistry beginning Fall 2005!  Students will have the opportunity to study chemistry during their 3rd year at the University of Nottingham in England.

Eligibility Criteria:  Students must have completed

  • one year of general chemistry with labs
  • one year of organic chemistry with labs
  • one year of calculus based physics with labs
  • MATH 124, 129, & 223

Also, students must carry at least a 3.0 GPA overall, with a 3.5 GPA in the pre-major/major courses to be considered for the program.

Course Selection at Nottingham:

A series of Nottingham modules (classes) has been pre-approved for use by UA students in the CHEM major. Physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and plenty of chemistry electives are included. You will work with your major advisor to select appropriate modules and plan out your 3rd and 4th years before going abroad.

Chemistry major courses, along with second language, Tier One, and Tier Two general education may be completed at Nottingham.

Outbound UA students to Nottingham will take between 50-60 Nottingham units per semester (up to 120 per year) to be considered full-time.

Students may opt for the full academic year, or just the fall or spring semesters if appropriate.
