TA EVALUATION PROCESS
Laboratory Course Coordinators

All teaching Assistants are evaluated by students at the end of each semester.  The Department of Chemistry generates the TA Evaluation Forms to garner more meaningful student comments and course assessment.  Students are invited to be candid about their experiences as all course evaluations are confidential.

The TA Evaluation Committee reviews student evaluations of course instructor after each major semester and completion of the summer courses.  The TA Evaluation Committee reports their "findings" and recommendations to the Chemistry Department Head.  Upon review of the student and supervisor comments recommendations for TAs based on performance and dedication to their courses are as follows:

  • TAs may receive an award or promotion
  • TAs may receive a letter of concern (minor to major)
  • TAs may be placed on teaching probation for a semester and must be re-evaluated to remove probationary status
  • TAs may be immediately terminated

Students' candid appraisal of the course and evaluation of the TA is taken seriously.  If for any reason, you have concerns regarding your laboratory, please contact the appropriate Lab Course Coordinator in the Teaching Lab Office.
